Which Video Game console is best for me?
I am looking at the three primary options for a Christmas gifts for my three kids: daughter (8), son (5) and daughter (18 mos). Which video game console (Wii, XB360, or PS3) would you recommend that would provide the best utlility, fun and value given the age bracket of my kids? Also, what type of monitor is recommended for these systems (my existing TV’s are pretty old and clunky so I’d like to get something that could be used solely for video games). Any links to articles comparing and contrasting the options (consoles and monitors) would be helpful.
MY WIFE JUST BOUGHT THE WII SO NOW I AM FOCUSING ON THE MONITOR (TV VERSUS COMPUTER MONITOR). PLEASE ADVISE.
I highly recommend the Wii at that age. Xbox360 and PS3 mainly have more violent, serious, adult oriented games. There are many Fun Games for the Wii that they could all play together as multiplayer, and you could probably have fun with the “Wii fit”. The Wii has simple games that’ll keep your kids very entertained and happy. They try to make it a “family” type of console, you can tell from the commercials they air.
As for TV, the wii doesn’t require an HDTV as much as the 360 and PS3. If you were to buy a flatscreen, I highly recommend a sony tv. It’s superior compared to the other brands but slightly more expensive. As for reviews, i’d check amazon.com and cnet.com. cnet.com is very reliable for giving unbiased reviews.
